Differentiated Instruction Series 2011

The New Hampshire Department of Education is coordinating with the Local Education Support Center Network (LESCN)  to bring a Differentiated Instruction workshop series to each regional professional development center. This four-session series begins in August 2011 and will wrap up with two additional sessions in early and late fall.

What is DI?
Differentiated Instruction is when educators intentionally create environments and lessons that teach students what they need to know, when they need to know it, and in ways that suit THEIR learning needs.

Cost: $395.00 per participant for the four-session series. Fee includes all materials, light morning refreshments and lunch.

Please review the dates for sessions at your regional LESCN Center. Topics to be covered:

Session 1—Fundamentals
Session 2—Assessment
Session 3—Strategies
Session 4—Routines/Unit Planning

Who should attend? Schools/Districts are encouraged to send teams including Principals, Department Chairs, Instructional Coaches, Lead Teachers. Individuals are welcome based on available space.

Goals and Outcomes: As a result of participating in this workshop series, you will understand how Differentiated Instruction interfaces with Response to Intervention and be able to:

  • identify learning/teaching styles to inform teaching
  • demonstrate and coach the use of assessment to drive instruction
  • teach how to plan and create a DI lesson
  • apply research based instructional practices

Your facilitator: The facilitators for these sessions  are educators who will train instructional leaders in differentiated instructional strategies with the intent of improving core instruction at participating schools/districts.
